National policy on HIV/AIDS for labourers formed
The Ministry of Labour and Employment in consultation
with National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) has formulated a
‘National Policy on HIV/AIDS and the World of Work’ to counter the
large number of HIV/AIDS cases among the most productive segment of
labour force (15-45 age group),
The policy aims at protecting rights of the infected and providing
access to care, support and treatment facilities. It also deals with
issues relating to stigma, discrimination and dignity at workplace.
PRIME MINISTER LAUNCHES SAKSHAR BHARATH MISSION
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has launched the new adult literacy
program Sakshar Bharath on September 8 2009 aimed at educating 70
million people(60 million women) by 2012,whose final goal is to
raise the literacy rate from 64 to 80,and to reduce the gender gap
in literacy from 21 to 10 percent. |
